How to stay on track this Holiday Season
(without missing out on the treats!)
The holiday season is one of my favourite times of the year, connection, celebration, great food, and moments that fill your cup. However, it can also be the time when healthy habits go out the window, routines slip, and you suddenly feel like you’re starting from scratch in January.
Here’s the good news:
’You don’t need to avoid the treats to stay on track.
You just need a plan that feels realistic, balanced, and kind — the same approach we use at meVSme every day .
Here are my top tips to enjoy the season and feel good in your body along the way.
Don’t skip your movement, even small sessions count
Your routine doesn’t need to be perfect, however it does need to stay alive.
Aim for short, consistent sessions like a walk, a quick strength circuit, or hopping into a class when you can. Movement supports your energy, your mood, your cravings, and your metabolism (and keeps those feel-good endorphins flowing!).
At this time of year, it’s less about smashing every workout and more about keeping the habit intact.
Prioritise protein at every meal
This is one of the simplest ways to avoid overeating without restriction.
Protein keeps you fuller for longer, stabilises your blood sugar, and stops the snack-spiral that often comes with long lunches and grazing tables.
Think: lean meats, yoghurt, eggs, seafood, beans, or a protein smoothie.
This is exactly why we teach members to prioritise protein in our programs, it makes a massive difference without feeling like a diet .
Hydrate (even when you’re busy celebrating)
Dehydration leads to low energy, cravings, and overeating.
And because December is often filled with warm weather and more social drinks, hydration becomes even more important.
A simple rule: One glass of water between every alcoholic drink.
Your tomorrow-self will thank you.
Enjoy the treats, however do it with intention
You should absolutely enjoy the festive treats you love. Just avoid eating everything just because it’s there.
Choose what’s worth it.
Have it.
Savour it.
And move on, no guilt, no “I’ve blown it now” mindset.
At meVSme, we don’t label food as good or bad, balance is what lasts .
Don’t arrive starving
One of the biggest mistakes people make?
Skipping meals earlier in the day because they’ve got a big event later.
This almost always leads to overeating.
Instead, stick to your normal meals, prioritise protein, and arrive comfortably hungry, not ravenous.
Keep your non-negotiables
Choose 2–3 healthy habits you’re not willing to drop, even in the busy season.
For example:
Drinking two bottles of water a day
Moving your body 3 times a week
Having protein with every meal
Getting 7 hours of sleep
These anchor you, even when everything else feels a bit chaotic.
Drop the all-or-nothing mentality
This is the mindset that derails people the most.
You don’t need perfect days.
You don’t need perfect weeks.
You just need to stay consistent enough that your habits don’t disappear.
Remember, progress comes from showing up, even in the messy seasons. That’s something we see in our community every day .
Final Thoughts
The holidays are about connection, joy, and making memories, not restriction.
If you can stay intentional, move your body, fuel yourself well, and release the pressure of perfection, you’ll head into the New Year feeling strong, confident, and proud of yourself… without missing out on all the things that make this season so special.
